New Jersey BOTOX® Treatment After Care

The idea of  BOTOX® Treatment After-Care is a bit of a misnomer. Botulism toxin, the official name of BOTOX® Cosmetic, and the treatments that have made it so popular are chiefly recognized as an extremely safe way to abolish wrinkles with little or no after- care required. Here are a few common questions that prospective BOTOX® treatment patients have had about their BOTOX® Treatment After-Care experience.

1. Does BOTOX® injection cause swelling?
a. After a BOTOX® Treatment you should expect some minor redness in the injected area as well as some possible swelling or bruising. This is completely normal and a reaction to the low-level toxin being injected into the bloodstream. This swelling and bruising does decrease within a matter of a few hours.

2. How soon after BOTOX® treatment can I start exercising?
a. This is a common guideline that people don’t always follow to the letter.  It is important after a BOTOX® injection to avoid heavy physical exercise, this includes lifting or bending or lying flat on the floor, for at least 4 hours after the injection. This is to not only avoid further swelling but also to maximize the benefits of the BOTOX® injection.

3. What happens if I rub the area where I had BOTOX® injection applied?
a. Obviously if you rub the injected area once or twice after a BOTOX® injection nothing is likely to happen. But prolonged rubbing or massaging of the area is not recommended for at least 24 hours. This can spread the BOTOX® chemical to other areas where muscle relaxation is not desired.

4. How soon after BOTOX® treatment can I wear makeup?
a. It is recommended that you do not wear makeup during your BOTOX® treatment after-care for at least 4 hours after the procedure.

5. What if I feel pain after my BOTOX® treatment?
a. Some minor discomfort is possible and is normal.

For the most part you won’t even notice your BOTOX® treatment after-care time. Most people have New Jersey BOTOX® treatments at lunch and return directly back to work. But keep these guidelines in mind and not only will you be less likely to feel the mild side effects, but will increase the effectiveness of the treatment.
