The Female Perspective on Hair Loss

Losing your hair as a woman can be an extremely traumatic experience.  Female hair loss is not nearly as common as male hair loss, and the effects it has on women can be extreme.  Cosmetic obstacles are typically the most discouraging for women with hair loss.  Female ideal appearances have a lot of weight put on hair, therefore hair loss can be damaging to their self-esteem. 

A woman’s view of losing her hair is also a stressful event.  Stress is one element that causes hair loss, therefore the added stress of losing hair can worsen the situation.  The best thing to do as a women who is experiencing hair loss is to remain calm and attempt to identify the cause for the hair loss, followed by a reasonable solution. 

On one hand, females often feel cheated because there are fewer solutions to the female hair loss problem than there are to men’s hair loss troubles.  However, it is also true that much fewer females deal with experiencing hair loss, and often female hair loss is temporary, and the solution is simply to wait for hair to grow back.
