Which Hair Loss Drug is Right for Me?

Choosing a hair loss drug can be a difficult and emotional process for both men and women.  Hair loss medications do not work the same for everybody therefore it is important to seek professional advice before treating yourself.

Hair loss medication is available in several forms.  There is the topical hair loss drug, which is called Rogaine, or Minoxidil.  This solution can be purchased over the counter.  However it is again, important to seek professional medical advice before treating yourself for hair loss.  Rogaine is available in two different strengths, 2% or 5%.  Choosing a strength would depend on your particular situation. 

Propecia, or Finasteride, is another hair loss medication available for those suffering from hair loss today.  This is a hair loss pill, to be taken orally, on a specific schedule to decrease hair that is being lost and improve the growth process for healthy hair.  The way it works is that the medication decreases the amount of DHT being produced, which is the hormone that causes hair follicles to be fragile.  This hair loss medication is typically not suitable for women. 

Using the hair loss medications in conjunction with each other is often the best solution to hair loss problems.  Every person is different therefore each situation is prescribed a different formula, depending on their specific condition.
