Ways of Dealing with Excessive Hair Loss

Excessive hair loss is a common problem.  Reasons for excessive hair loss vary, and solutions depend on the causes.

The causes and solutions differ drastically when hair is lost excessively, as opposed to when hair loss is steady and gradual.  When hair loss happens suddenly and excessively, it can be due to illnesses, medications, surgeries, vitamins, hormones, and/or infections.  The solution to this short-term problem is often to be patient.  Frequently hair will grow back after having recovered from the illness or surgery, discontinued the medication and vitamins, balanced out the hormones, and gotten the infections under control.

If you are experiencing excessive hair loss, seeking medical attention is advised.  The most important thing to do is to pinpoint the cause of the hair loss because it could be a side effect to something more serious that needs to be treated.  Some of the illnesses and infections that sometimes cause excessive hair loss include diabetes, lupus, thyroid dysfunctions, and fungal infection.  Taking anti-depressants, vitamin A, anticholesterol agents, antimitotics, and anesthesia can all contribute to loss of hair.  Chemotherapy, radiation, and other cancer treatments are known to result in excessive hair loss.  Hair loss due to these cancer treatments is called Anagen Effluvium, and after the treatment has ended, hair will grow back normally.

Contact Pistone Hair Restoration for a consultation if you are experiencing excessive hair loss.  Seeking professional opinions is of utmost importance because they can identify the cause of your hair loss and review your medical history and current condition.
