Question: I noticed my hair has been thinning out over the past several months. At first I thought it was just stress because I have been stressed out about having my first baby and raising her and I’ve been struggling with whether or not I’ll be a good parent. Anyway, this hair loss seems to be pretty extreme for being stress related. Am I wrong? Could it be stress related hair loss? -Mindy
Response: Mindy, I was in the same situation as you just after I had my son. The hair you are experiencing is normal following pregnancies. I’m not sure why, but I believe it has something to do with hormones. I stopped losing my hair within a few months and it grew back normally shortly thereafter. So don’t worry, you aren’t balding. Hope this helps. –Georgia
Question: I am going to be undergoing chemotherapy in a few weeks. I really don’t want anyone to know that I am losing my hair. I know sometimes toupees don’t look natural. What is the best way to mask this? Sincerely, Frank
Response: I got fitted for my wig before I lost my hair. I found that they were able to match my look better by seeing me in person with my natural hair. I think the name of the place was Tiffany wigs, but I’m not a hundred percent sure because it has been a few years. I would do a search on the internet to find a place near you that will do a fitting before you begin treatment.
Question: Has anyone had any luck with any of these herbal hair loss remedies. I ordered away for some mousse/vitamin combo pack. I can’t wait for it to come in the mail. Any day now. I’m hoping it will work, but I was wondering if anyone has tried it.
Response: I have tried every remedy in the book for hair loss. All of those herbal remedies included. Nothing has worked. I’m still bald. But maybe it will work for you. Good luck, Nate.
Question: Has anyone gone through with this surgical hair transplantation? Does it hurt a lot?
Response: I had the surgery about a year and a half ago. I highly recommend it. The only discomfort I felt was when they were anesthetizing my scalp before the procedure began but that’s only because I didn’t elect to have conscious sedation because I didn’t have a ride home. If I had gotten the conscious sedation ( “twilight sleep”) it would have been painless. And I got a few headaches in the following days. Other than that, it was a smooth experience. Go for it!
