The Facts on Hair Loss Treatment

Do hair transplant procedures work?

Absolutely.  The process works by transferring hair follicles from an area of the scalp with thicker hair to the areas where hair is needed.  The outcome looks natural because the process replicates your natural hair growth.  The procedure is relatively new therefore there are few  hair surgeons who offer stereo-microscopic follicular unit transplantation exclusively.  Contact Pistone Hair Restoration to learn more about hair transplant procedures and other possible hair loss treatments

Will the hair transplant procedure be painful?

The answer to this hair loss treatment FAQ always surprises those that are asking.  Because the skin around the scalp is anesthetized, you will feel minimal discomfort.  Modern anesthetics work so well to numb the area that the only discomfort will be when injecting the anesthetic into the scalp.  We offer mild sedation during this phase to minimize the discomfort of injection.

What can I expect after the transplant?

If all instructions are followed after the surgery, discomfort will be extremely limited.  Extreme physical activity should be limited in the week following the surgery, and shampooing can be done after twenty four hours.  The stiches will need to be removed about seven to ten days after the surgery.  There will also be small crusts on the scalp that will disappear seven days or so, and in approximately three to four months, new hair growth will begin, growing about a half an inch every month.

Why am I losing my hair?

Inheritance is the top reason for hair loss.  Either or both parents who have the gene can pass it on to their children.  Men tend to be affected more by the genes because their hormones trigger the genetic program that causes the hair loss.   Malnutrition, illnesses, and to some extent, severe stress can speed up the process of hair loss in those that have inherited the gene.
