Hair Loss Treatments and Solutions

There are several different hair loss treatments out on the market today.  The type of treatment you decide on will depend on your age, sex, budget, and the extent of hair loss you are experiencing.

Hair transplantation is a great option for those experiencing hair loss.  The scientific term for the procedure is called stereoscopic follicular unit hair transplantation.  This procedure is a replication process of your natural hair growth.  It is done by replacing follicular units one at a time from the healthy areas to the ones experiencing the hair loss.  This procedure must be done by a specialist in the area.  Follicular Unit hair transplantation using the Stereo-Microscope (or FUT) is a process that has not been around longer than a few years and is considered to be most to be the Gold Standard of hair restoration surgery.  Dr. Pistone is one of a small number of professionals that offer this specific hair transplantation procedure exclusively.  Contact Pistone Hair Restoration to learn more about hair loss treatments

There are several non-surgical procedures that include both topical and oral treatments.  Propecia is the name of the oral medication used to treat hair loss in men.  Also known as Finasteride, this oral medication is used to treat the early stages of hair loss by reducing the amount of hormones that cause hair loss.  Propecia is used exclusively in men and cannot be used in women.

Rogaine, also known as Minoxidil, is a topical medication that helps treat hair loss.   Originally Minoxidil was available at a 2% strength and it is now available in a 5% strength as well.  Rogaine can be used in both men and women at both strengths.  A combination of the different hair restoration techniques often works most effectively.  Everybody is prescribed a different formula according their specific situation.
