Hair Loss: Propecia as the solution

Propecia is a medication used to treat hair loss in men.  Also known as Finasteride, this medication works to stop hair loss by slowing down the enzymes that produce DiHydrotestosterone, or DHT.  DHT is the element that causes hair loss.   Propecia prevents hair loss by hindering the ability to produce DHT.  

The medication is taken in the form of a pill once daily without food.  If you experience any side effects, such as rashes or swelling, contact your physician or pharmacist immediately. 

Propecia may take months to begin working.  Once it starts working, be sure to take the medication daily and to continue taking it unless otherwise directed.   If you miss a dose of the medication and remember early in the same day, take the missed dose.  If you forget an entire day, do not double up the pills, simply skip that dose and continue taking the normal dosage the following day.   If you stop taking the medication, you will revert back to the same amount of hair loss as when you began treatment.
