Do Herbs for Hair Loss Work?

There are several herbs that are said to promote healthy hair and speed up the hair growth process.  Chamomile is one herb that is excellent for assisting in hair growth.  Increased intake of chamomile in diet and shampooing and conditioning with chamomile products help to encourage healthy hair growth.  Catnip and Burdock Roots are other herbs that increase the growth of healthy hair.  Use these herbs together and healthy hair may be around the corner. 

Vitamin C is said to decrease the possibility of hair loss due to temporary hair loss causes, such as stress and illness.  Eating fruits and vegetables rich in vitamin C is a wise idea if you notice you are experiencing hair loss due to temporary hair loss.  Vitamin B complex and Protein are also important elements in increasing the presence of healthy hair.  Therefore, increasing the meats, eggs, milk, and foods rich in protein is an important step for increasing hair growth. 

Another herb that has been studied by the Chinese and found to be successful in treating hair loss is called Polygoni Muliflori, also known as He Shou Wu.  This herb helps improve the hair’s condition as well as its growth.  The Chinese herb Saw Palmetto, or Serenoa Repens, also increases hair growth.  This herb works to decrease the levels of DHT in the body, which is the hormone that weakens hair follicles. 

These herbs are not medications for hair loss, and there is absolutely no guarantee that they will work to improve hair growth.  However, some have seen results in the past, and there is likely no harm in trying.
