Is There A Baldness Cure?

It isn’t. Baldness is a medical condition with only one major side effect. The loss of hair. This condition’s side effects can be slowed with medications and can be disguised with options like a hair replacement system or a hair transplant but as men and women over the history of time have come to know all too well there is no cure for baldness. Of course that doesn’t mean people won’t try to sell one to you.

Baldness cures have been around since Cleopatra administered pigeon droppings to the scalp of her boyfriend Mark Antony in the hopes that the product derived from this mystical bird, pigeons were revered at this time, would help him grow hair. Suffice it to say it did not work, and though it’s been awhile since the Roman practice of sulfur and tar was used as a governmental baldness cure the current crop of products promising instant solution to hair loss aren’t much better. Whether it be a product touting laser technology or herbal supplements or some kind of magical shampoo any product that claims it can cure baldness is just patently false.

What FDA-approved medications like Rogaine and Propecia can do is stem existing hair loss and in some cases promote new hair growth. This is far from a cure and in fact the only real permanent solution to baldness is hair transplantation which merely uses surgery to move healthy hair follicles from the back of the scalp to the areas in need. Solution? Yes. Cure? No. Until that day comes it will be best to spend your money on something that works. (And doesn’t involve pigeon droppings.)
