The Effects Of Divorce On Hair Loss

There are various reasons why people lose their hair.  Some of these reasons have to do with medical problems, while others may have to do with emotional troubles.  Stress is a high cause for hair loss cases.  Extreme levels of stress can heavily affect one’s body in a negative way. 

Major shocks and life events have much bearing on stress levels.  Divorce can be considered a major shock in ones life.  When you are living a routine life involving another person, and suddenly this life changes, it can be traumatic.  Having to rearrange one’s entire life is a stressful process.  With extreme stress, such as this, sometimes hair loss occurs. 

Hair loss that is stress related is usually a temporary situation.  Typically, an elevated number of hair follicles go into their resting phase early, causing hair loss and hair thinning.  This can be noticeable first by a flaking scalp and dry hair, and then in appearance by thinning and lost hair.  There is no real treatment for this type of hair loss.  The best way to handle the situation is to treat your stress-related problems.  When stress levels are gotten under control, typically the hair growth and loss patterns resume to their normal, healthy routines.
