The Many Uses Of Henna

Henna hair dye comes from the henna plant, also known as Lawsonia inermis, grown mainly in northern Africa.  The leaves of the plant are dried out and then ground into a powder that is green in color.  When the powder is mixed with water and turned into its dye solution, it will turn hair different colors, usually producing a reddish tint.  Henna dye is all natural, making it a very mild hair dye that does not dry hair out.

Some say that henna hair dye is not strong enough for them, or does not give a long-lasting result.  However, henna dye can last just as long as permanent hair dyes.  Most people who dye their hair will touch it up every six weeks anyway, so if the dye fades, the re-application process is simple and healthy.  Regular hair dye contains harsh chemicals that dry often dry out hair and scalp, sometimes weakening hair follicles or causing intense allergic reactions.  These chemical treatments are not healthy for our hair or our bodies, therefore if you are looking for a new hair color, henna may be a better, safer alternative.
