Questions for Your Hair Surgeon

1.) Ask your doctors to review all options with you before making your decision.  Be certain they go over all medications, procedures, and non-surgical hair replacement system options with you before deciding on a final solution.

2.) Make sure you give your hair restoration surgeon a good idea of what results you are looking for.  After you have described your ideal outcome, ask the doctor: Are my desired results realistic? 

3.) Ask your doctor if they have a guarantee policy.  Will they repeat or redo certain areas without charge if the desired results are not achieved? 

4.) Ask your physician about his track record with hair restoration surgeries.  How long has he been performing them?  How many has he done?  How many have been successful? 

5.) Inquire about the facilities.  Where is the procedure taking place?  How long with the procedure take?  Is there a back-up power supply if electricity is lost during the procedure?

6.) Ask about post-surgery limitations.  What should I expect following the procedure?  Will I have to limit myself physically?

7.) Ask about the cost of the procedure, in addition to the financing options they may have available. 

8.) Inquire about the kind of anesthesia that will be used during the procedure, in addition to the types of medications you may have to take following the procedure. 

9.) Ask your physician if there will be anyone else present during the operation.  Who will be assisting you in my surgery?  Can you tell me about your assistant?  How long have you been working together?

10.) Request to see some before and after pictures of the physician’s past patients.  If you are still curious, ask for the names and phone numbers of some of his past patients.  It is sometimes helpful to speak to someone that has already undergone the experience.
