Myths About Hair Loss Treatment

1.) Electrical stimulation stops hair loss:  Because some people think that low blood flow to the scalp causes hair loss, electrical stimulation came about as a treatment.  The treatments consisted of massage sessions with electrical stimulation.  These sessions produce no results in hair growth. 

2.) Hair transplant surgery will produce a “plug-like” look: Older methods of hair restoration involved grafts with between 8 and 20 hairs at once.  This method did produce a “plug-like” look.  Modern hair restoration yields smaller grafts with between 1 and 4 hairs at once, producing a very natural look. 

3.)Hair loss treatment products, such as shampoos, mousses, and gels work wonders to produce hair:  Products such as shampoos, mousses, and hair gels that are said to help hair grow thicker do not work.  These products are simply a marketing scam targeted towards desperate individuals who are attempting to get a quick treatment to their hair loss problems.  If these products worked the way they said they did, they would be well known and popular. 

4.) Vitamin supplements can improve hair growth:  Vitamin deficiencies are not held responsible for hair loss, therefore vitamin supplements do not help in increasing hair growth.  There is toxicity found in vitamin A, so you can try cutting down on your intake of vitamin A and see if that helps.
