Scalp Redness Following a Hair Transplant

During the recovery and healing process of a hair transplant scalp redness can occur. This is due in part because the transplanted areas of the head are a little “tender” and develop a “halo-like” circle of redness, which should be expected and is normal during the healing process. Most hair transplant redness is due to the overall vascularity of the scalp area.

These can include the use of ice and refraining from any lifting or heavy physical exercise after your hair transplant. The scalp redness you may be experiencing can be greatly improved by taking these important precautions.
 
Although this is a temporary condition, should you experience redness coupled with severe itching after using the prescribed post-op ointments, you should contact the office where you had your procedure done immediately. They can advise you on whether a follow-up medical visit is required.
