New Jersey Hair Removal

Different types of hair removal will cause different levels of discomfort, depending on the procedure, the area that the hair is being removed from, and the person’s tolerance for pain who is receiving the hair removal treatment.  There are a few painless hair removal methods; however in order to eliminate unwanted hair, some level of discomfort is often the price we must pay.

Shaving is probably the most popular hair removal method because it is painless, as well as economical and easy.  Shaving is a painless hair removal technique as long as it is done correctly.  Waxing can be a painful hair removal method; however it does not last long.  It is inconvenient because most people have it done at a professional salon, which means that a visit to the salon must be scheduled at least once a month.  Plucking can be a painful process as well, and most people only pluck very small areas at a time because of the time that it consumes.

Electrolysis is the permanent hair removal method.  It is a long and tedious process of destroying hair follicles one at a time using needles and electric currents.  The process is known to involve some level of pain, depending on the region where the hair is being removed, the coarseness of the hair being removed, and the person’s tolerance that is undergoing the procedure.  Electrolysis requires multiple sessions in order to achieve the desired hair removal results.  Although some pain is involved, a topical anesthetic is available for use to help decrease discomfort.

Laser hair removal is a milder form of hair removal, in the sense that it is recognized as less painful, less expensive, and less time consuming  Patients compare the sensation of laser hair removal to a rubber band hitting the skin, as the heat is recognized. The laser has a cooling mechanism that decreases the discomfort instantly.  In addition a frozen gel is spread over the area to numb it.  Also, a topical anesthetic cream can be applied as well.  The level of discomfort felt depends on the patient’s skin, hair type, and tolerance.  Additionally, laser hair removal is much less time consuming than electrolysis, therefore the pain is limited to the time consumed, followed by slight redness of the skin after the procedure.
