Are You a Candidate for Laser Hair Removal?

There are several things to keep in mind before even considering laser hair removal.  To ensure that your hair is removed properly and the surrounding skin is not affected by the lasers there are some important guidelines to keep in mind. 

The number one prerequisite for undergoing New Jersey laser hair removal is that your hair is darker than the surrounding skin’s area.  If you have lighter hair than your skin color, you are not eligible for the procedure.  Darkly pigmented individuals are sometimes not good candidates for laser hair removal because the laser energy is overly absorbed into the skin.  However with the newer lasers such as our Lumenis LightSheer, individuals with darkly pigmented skin can sometimes be treated.  People who are tanned and have light or dark hair are also not ideal people to have this procedure; however those with dark hair can simply wait until their tan lightens up, and they will be eligible for the laser hair removal. 

The best candidates for laser hair removal are those with light skin and dark hair.    Results are better, and the process is easier.  Dark hair absorbs more of the energy projected from the laser, making the process go faster and easier.  Those with darker skin can be eligible for laser hair removal; however, often more sessions are required, the results are not as clear, and more skill is required to perform the procedure.
