New Jersey Restylane

Restylane is a clear biodegradable gel that increases volume when injected into the body and can provide a myriad of positive results. Restylane itself is a natural component of connective tissue within the body and has been used to alleviate joint pain in those suffering from musco-skeletal conditions. But certainly its most popular application has recently been its use as a cosmetic solution to wrinkles, facial lines, and lip enhancement.

Unlike collagen, which is derived from purified cow skin, Restylane is a Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid, or NASHA, which has proven very effective in reducing wrinkles and helping to shape facial contours. It does this by adding volume to the skin tissue of the face and thereby minimize wrinkles with the subsequent expansion of the skin to give a more youthful and full appearance to the patient. This approach differentiates Restylane from other wrinkle remedies, such as BOTOX®  Cosmetic, which paralyze the muscle responsible for frowning. Restylane is simply a filler added to skin tissue.

But perhaps it is Restylane’s reputation as a lip-enhancement tool that has made it so popular. By injecting Restylane into the inside of the lower or upper lip a patient can achieve younger-looking lips that can dramatically affect one’s appearance in a profound way. And because Restylane is derived from a protein already found in the human body, and has no animal protein precursors, the side effects of Restylane are rare and very mild in nature. Aside from some redness and swelling there is very little discomfort to deal with after a Restylane treatment. And though one can usually see results after just one treatment, many patients say that maximum effect was achieved after multiple treatments, which can last from 6-12 months.
