Restylane injections began about nine years ago when a Swedish company discovered that by isolating this compound, that is already present in the human body, they could re-introduce it and provide pain relief for patients who suffered from achy joints. The reason for this was that Restylane was a hyaluronic acid that when injected could create extra volume to skin tissue that had depressed.
