New Jersey Microdermabrasion Treatment: Explained

Microdermabrasion is a skin resurfacing procedure that renews skin and makes it appear healthier and younger.  The procedure has been around for years and is now getting extremely popular in the United States.  Microdermabrasion is a quick and easy alternative to chemical peels and other procedures that are time consuming and require recovery time. 

The process of microdermabrasion is fast and easy.  It should be performed by a dermatologist, or aesthetician for best results and to minimize the risks involved.  To achieve the best possible results, multiple sessions are recommended, typically anywhere from five to twelve sessions are standard, plus some maintenance sessions for long term results.  Each session lasts between thirty and sixty minutes, allowing the procedure to be done on a break from work. 

The procedure begins with the use of a microdermabrasion machine.  This machine will offer abrasive microcrystals to resurface the skin.  The crystals are located in a hand-held wand, which is moved across the skin back and forth, grazing the very top layer of the skin.  Within this wand, there is a vacuum that removes the dead skin and other residue from the area immediately. 

 The outcome of this short, revolutionary process is soft, clear, and radiant skin.  After just the first treatment of microdermabrasion, you will be able to see results.  Additionally, directly following the procedure, your normal routine may be continued including the application of makeup.
